Too cold outside? Not for us!

21 Dec

Today’s post is a guest post from Gumbo. This is his review of our Ruff Wear dog coats:

We are active canines who love to run, to jump, to chase, to retrieve, to hunt, and to playfully pounce each other. Our humans jokingly say that our two states of being are going 100% or sound asleep.

Luckily, in the cold winter, we have coats that can keep up with us and are durable enough to last year after year. We’re speaking, of course, about Ruff Wear’s canine coats.

Ruff Wear products are for active dogs and made by active dog people! Yep, this is the same company that makes our favorite leashes. All their designs are especially tailored for healthy dogs with an active physique, which is not always common among canine apparel. When Ilsa was a puppy, our humans wanted to get her a winter coat since she is so thin and her hair is so short. They went to all the local pet stores (large chains and local boutiques) and were unsuccessful finding a coat that was long enough to cover her entire back while being lean enough for her trim waistline. Enter Ruff Wear! The first purchase was a K-9 overcoat and they were hooked! This coat kept Ilsa warm and dry, it looked very nice, and allowed her to move freely without restriction. Later that winter, they ordered her a cloud chaser because they just couldn’t resist. Much to their surprise, this was even better for her! This coat zips up the side covering her tummy and chest completely to keep her extra warm.

My first winter was last year as a puppy. My parents put me in Ilsa’s size small blue K-9 Overcoat which was perfect! Now that I’m full grown, I have my very own lichen green size medium K-9 overcoat. Woohoo!

A few of our favorite features are:
• Built for active dogs with long, lean bodies
• Adjustable straps on the K-9 overcoat allow for the perfect fit
• DURABLE! Mom washes our coats all the time and they haven’t torn or faded
• Reflective stripes for added safety
• Top loop where you can attach the Beacon Light for off-leash playtime in the dark (and let’s face it… the sun sets at 4:45pm in the winter)
• The K-9 overcoat is cut just right for male dogs so there are no potty accidents
• All zippers and/or buckles are lined inside and out so no rubbing of our sensitive skin will occur

With so many options to choose from, there’s no excuse for your humans to not let you enjoy the outdoors even in the winter. This season, Ruff Wear has added several fleece coats to their product line. I wonder what Santa will bring us for Christmas… 🙂

Happy Howlidays!

We have 2 vizslas as well & we love Ruff Wear! We have collars, leashes, harness, & coats! Tsonga, our oldest, had 2 jackets heavy & lightweight one. When he outgrew the lightweight jacket we gave it to his little brother Ruger. They love their jackets to keep them warm b/c they have no undercoat. All the product are totally durable & dog friendly! Ruffwear is great!!
